The house is situated only 5,5 km. from the beach in Empuriabrava, which is a typical "tourist-mekka". Closed paths makes it possible to cycle or walk there. Alternatively, L'escala 15 km. away is a historical Costa Brava town with a lot of atmosphere and a beautiful beach.
Near Castelló there is a big natural park, with a lot of birdlife and beautiful surroundings - a opvious goal for hiking or cycling.
Figueres, 11 km. in the other direction, is home for the crazy art-museum Museo Teatro Dalí. Also, there is a nice towncentre with a lot of shops. Are you into Dalí, a visit to his home in Cadaqués is very recommendable (remember to book a timeslot). In general, the area near Cadaqués is very good for hiking, and you can also bath from the rocks, rembember bathing shoes.
For longer excursions, Girona - the city of the 5 rivers - and of course Barcelona are obvious goals.
